FaithWorks Project - part 1

On January 20, 1961 John F. Kennedy spoke these words: “To those peoples in the huts and villages of half the globe struggling to break the bonds of mass misery, we pledge our best efforts to help them help themselves, for whatever period is required. If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich.”

Now 46 years later these words still ring true. In to many places across the world and on our own shores people are suffering in extreme poverty. To many people go to bed hungry, to many people die of diseases that can be cured, and to many people are killed in acts of brutal violence because no one will act to help them. The time for change has come and the stakes have never been higher.

Like that time years ago, the torch has been passed but this time it has been passed to all people that still believe that we can do better and that we can change the world. The torch has been passed to a group of people that still believe that in God all things are possible. The torch has been passed to those that still believe peace in the world can exist, that we can conquer poverty, and that diseases like AIDS that are destroying millions of lives can be cured. The torch has been passed to those that still hold onto the founding principles of this nation that we are all created equal and endowed by our creator with certain unalienable rights that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. This group echoes the famous words of Franklin Delano Roosevelt and know that they have a rendevous with destiny.

Groups and leaders like Rick Warren, One.org, Kiva, Hope International, and so many others have taken the torch and have begun the fight and it is not only our privilege but it is our responsibility to join them. For it is by all of us working together and following our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ that we are confident we can change the world. It is with this energy, faith, and excitement that I want to introduce to you FaithWorks Project.

FaithWorks Project seeks to glorify God by being the connection between compassionate donors, forward thinking microfinance institutions, and innovative community development initiatives. FaithWorks Project’s mission is to fight poverty by empowering emerging entrepreneurs globally and strengthening community development locally.

Over the next few weeks as we share FaithWorks Project, I hope you will be as excited as I am and will want to become a part of a group that along with so many others is going to fight to change the world.

To be continued . . .
