It has been suggested that everytime I read a contemporary book, I need to follow it with a classic. It will keep my focus and perspective where they need to be. Our pastor has given the elders a John Bevere book to read, and I haven’t been able to get past the first few pages…..I was reminded that I haven’t read a classic for awhile, so Bevere will have to wait while I take some time with the classics to regain some perspective and focus.
Came across a great quote by Dallas Willard this morning that has to be shared…
“Our discipleship to Christ costs nothing less than everything, but the cost of nondiscipleship is far greater. Nondiscipleship costs abiding peace, a life penetrated throughout by love, faith that sees everything in the light of God’s overriding goverance for good, hopefulness that stands firm in the most discouraging of circumstances, power to do what is right and withstand the forsces of evil. In short, it costs exactly the abundance of life that Jesus said He came to bring.”
